  1. When is the best time to apply the pine bore product, Adonis?

    1. Systemic insecticides for borer control should be applied right after flowering so the pesticide is not contained in the pollen. Pines "flower" in about late March or April here so applying it in May or after will be okay.

  2. What is best time of day and how much and how long for your drip system in Bullhead City? We have palm trees and Mulberry and cottonwood. I have lived here 6 months and I have caused most of the leaves to fall off of 3 trees. When will they grow back?

    1. Have drip irrigation come on just before it gets hot. This way the soil is full of water when the temperatures are rising. It is seldom a good idea to water daily unless the plants have very shallow or short roots such as cool season lawns like fescue, rye and bluegrass, annual vegetables and annual flowers. The others should do anywhere from every other day or more days between applications of water. Use a soil moisture meter for houseplants to roughly give you an idea of the water remaining in the soil 12 inches from the drip emitters. Plants grow back if they lose their leaves rapidly if they lose them later in the season. Early in the season they have not had much time to develop new buds for growth but after early to mid summer the buds for next year have developed. If leaves are lost then the new growth will come from buds that have fully developed and it will be fast. If they drop their leaves early in the year the plant has to develop new buds and then these buds can grow OR latent buds inside the plant may grow if the plant has latent buds. This takes time. So growth is slower when leaf drop is in the spring or the plant dies.
